Tommi Ilmonen, CTO - MultiTouch Ltd.

Tommi Ilmonen, the Chief Technology Officer of MultiTouch, Ltd., oversees all software and hardware technology development at MultiTouch. His main objective is to keep MultiTouch ahead of the competition by creating ground-breaking, commercially valid new technologies with his team. Tommi is one of the founding members of MultiTouch, the original inventor of the core technology and the main author of the MultiTouch patent applications.

His educational background is in physics, and computer science. Prior to MultiTouch, Tommi worked in academia in the field of novel human-computer interaction and also as a consultant for external companies in the field of real-time computer graphics and multi-media engines.

During his academic work and field testing, Tommi accumulated extensive experience with physical, large-scale user interfaces and their integration into production systems. His expertise is in the field of computer vision, computer graphics, audio technology, optics, electronics and mechanics.

Tommi is a Doctor of Science (Technology) and did his thesis in the field of novel human-computer interaction methods in 2006. He was also the Technology Manager for the Ubiquitous Interaction (UIx) research group at Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT.
